What is an Immersion Blender?
An immersion blender if often also called a handheld blender or a hand blender. It is basically a blender that you hold in your hand and
use to blend or puree soups, smoothies, baby food - or whatever else it is that you need pureed or blended! The benefits of an immersion
blender are that you can immerse it completely in the food you'd like to blend - such as into a pot of chunky soup, to create a smooth, silky
textured soup.
Hand blenders can make your smoothie making a lot easier, too! Simply put all the ingredients of a good homemade smoothie into a large jar or
other type of tall glass or plastic container. (My favorite smoothies generally contain fresh fruit juice, frozen fruit chunks and sometimes some yogurt - use whatever ingredients you love.) Then, just immerse the blender right in, turn it on and instantly turn that good stuff into an incredibly delicious and nutritious smoothie!
While a hand blender may not entirely replace your regular countertop blender (which often is more powerful) it can certainly add a lot of portable blending power to your kitchen! It's a small appliance worth while to keep on hand in many homes.
