How to remove tough ink stains from clothing...

On Monday, we had a reader ask about how to remove red ink stains from her clothing. Here are tips sent in from our ever helpful readers!

Susan says:
"I am not sure if this will work since the clothing has already been washed and dried but -- I always have success when I use the product "Lestoil" on oil , paint, ink stains. I keep an old tooth brush in a zip lock bag down in my laundry room next to the Lestoil bottle. When I see a stain I simply apply some of the Lestoil to the stain with the toothbrush and wash like normal. I think the LESTOIL might also work for the red ink. I was a school teacher for 18 years so red ink marks on the cuffs of my clothing was a daily occurrence. The LESTOIL remedy was suggested to me many moons ago when I took an oil painting class. I still use the Lestoil for all of my tough stains and it never lets me down!"

Dorina suggests:
"I use alcohol to remove ink stains. Place the item with a paper towel under it. Blot the stain with alcohol and continue to blot until the stain moves from the clothing onto the towel underneath. Be patient because this takes quite a while to do. "

Joyce says:
"Try rubbing alcohol on the ink spot. My husband came home from work with red dye all over his blue jeans from visiting a pigment plant. I had just seen Heloise on Oprah, and they addressed the same issue. It worked great! Good luck! Let us know how it works for you! "

Lisa says:
"Tammy, you could try this...... Spray liberally with an inexpensive hairspray and then wash in cold water. "
