Kitty Litter - Helpful Hints

A lot of our readers are cat owners, and so here are some helpful kitty litter changing tips that they've submitted.
Self Cleaning Litter Box
Cindy writes:
"I have a Self-Cleaning Litter box made by Omega Paw $26.99 at petsmart. It is soo wonderful. When your ready to clean the litter box, all you do is turn the whole thing on its side and the cat waste goes into this little container, the clean litter gets sifted back into the box."

Combine Litter and Shavings
Another reader recommends:
"Save lots of money on kitty litter by mixing the cheapest, unscented litter that you can find with cedar shavings intended for small animal bedding. The cedar absorbs the wetness as well as the odor. I mix our litterbox with equal amounts of litter and cedar and it works great!" Clumping Litter
Submitted by Pat:
"One person wanted to know an easy way to change cat litter. I am a pet sitter and deal with a LOT of the stuff. Most people around here use the scoopable, clumping cat litter instead of the clay knid. It is so much easier to clean. You never have to dump out the old litter, just keep scooping it and adding fresh when it get low in the cat pan. One person that I cat sit for take a small trash bag and puts it over the outside of the pan and then pours in the litter (she uses the clay kind) and when it is time to change it you just pull the bag off and over the pan, tie it up and throw it out. Hope this helps!"
