CLEANING OLD TUB
Marlene asks:
"My daughter is living in a very old house, with a very old
bathtub. She was telling me today that she was trying to
clean the brown spots, off the inside of the tub. She
was using "Tilex" the special one, but it did not take
it off. Lightened it a little, I think. I was wondering
if anybody knew how to get this tub cleaner."
EAR WAX REMOVAL
Rose asks:
"Got any ideas on ear wax build up?
It keeps coming back. "

GOUT REMEDIES
One reader wrote:
"Drinking cherry juice has helped a lot of people
suffering with gout. Most health/food stores carry
concentrated cherry juice and also cherry juice tablets.
Linda says:
"I have been told that drinking cherry juice is helpful.
best of luck with that issue."
Arvella wrote:
"For gout, eat or drink cherries or juice. I read this
about 25 yrs or so ago and showed the article to a gal
that had it so bad she couldn't stand her shoes on. Her
husband got her some cherry juice at the health food
store and next day she was in her shoes and the day after
back at the hospital doing her volunteer work."
BAKING WITH SPLENDA - Sugarfree Baking
Sue says:
"I've substituted Splenda for sugar in quite a few recipes including rhubarb/strawberry pie, shortbread, blueberry cobbler and chocolate cake. I simply replace the sugar with an equal quantity of Splenda and so far it's all been just fine. I must add, however, that I've never substituted as much as 3 cups. The most has been 2 cups for the rhubarb/strawberry pie."
Sue B. wrote:
"I have boxes of Splenda on hand and the usage guide says "1 level cup of Splenda equals 1 level cup of sugar". I hope this information will help Doris in making Persimmon Bread for her friend. "
Arvella suggests:
"For the persimmon bread and splenda. That sounds like an awful lot of sugar for this recipe. I would use 1 1/2 to 2 cups of Splenda. Try the recipe as it is for yourself and see just how sweet it is first before making it for your friend. I think the amount of sugar/splenda depends on how ripe your persimmons are. I used to make bread and cookies from them and never had to use 3 cups of sugar for a loaf of bread. "

MEATBALLS - CEVAPCICI
Pat writes:
"Many years ago, I had a recipe for a meatball type recipe using ground pork, lamb and beef. Not sure of the spelling, but to the best of my recollection it was Cevapcici. If anyone has a recipe for this, I would certainly appreciate it!!"
HASH & RICE DISH
Karen M. asks:
"When traveling in the south we always love to eat at BBQ places. Does anyone know how to make a dish that tastes like Maurices' Carolina Hash & Rice? We have nothing like this anywhere around here. I have searched the internet and found recipes with the same name but they are nothing like Maurices' . I would love to recreate this in my kitchen to tide us over between trips. Thank so much in advance. "
Starbucks Aussie Bars
Christine asked:
"I have a recipe request for Starbucks Aussie Bars.
These are so good, but I can't find a comparable
recipe. Thanks!"
