Swensons Copycat Orange Chip Ice Cream

Here's a recently requested recipe that our recipe researchers searched and searched for and finally found!

Super Easy Orange Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Mold

Submitted by Connie & Collette

2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup thawed frozen orange-juice concentrate
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate mini chips
For garnish: orange slices, cut in quarters

Place a 3-cup mold in refrigerator to chill.

Stir cream, sugar and orange juice in a medium-size bowl until sugar dissolves. Place in freezer 1 1/2 hours or until partially frozen (mixture must be thick so chips won’t sink).

Fold in chocolate chips. Pour into chilled mold, cover and freeze until hard, several hours or overnight.

To unmold, run tip of sharp knife around rim. Place upside down on serving platter but don’t remove mold. Refrigerate 30 minutes, or until mold can be lifted and removed.

Garnish with border of orange slices, then return to freezer until serving time.

Makes 6 servings

I found a recipe for Orange Chocolate Chip Ice Cream but it wasn't Swanson's Ice Cream. Here it is!

Ingredients
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cup cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp orange extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate bits

Directions

Combine first four ingredients. Chill. Beat two eggs. Add sugar and beat stiff. Fold into milk mixture. Stir freeze until slushy. Add chocolate bits. Complete freezing.

Makes about 1 quart.
