Frugal Recipes

Fast and Frugal Chili Fries

3 Cans Hormel Chili (or similar amount homemade leftover chili)
1 large bag frozen French Fries
2 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Cook Chili and Bake Fries (or for those with a deep fryer you can make your fries that way) as directed on can and package. When done, put 1/2 a cup of Fries into each serving bowl (more or less depending on each individual) and pour hot chili over the top of them. Sprinkle cheese on the top. Serve. Makes about 4-6 servings.

Homemade Toaster Pastries (Copycat Recipes for Pop Tarts)

Roll out 2 pie crusts. Cut into squares the size you want your pastries to be. Spread half of the squares with jelly, jam, or preserves. Top with the other half of the pastries. Using a fork, press the edges of the pastries together. Prick holes in the top pastry crust. If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Makes about 3 pastries if you make them store bought size. You can serve them right from the oven or toast them later.

Lemon Raspberry Tea Mix

1 package raspberry gelatin

Combine together and seal in an airtight container. Instructions: Pour 6-8 ounces hot water over 2 teaspoons tea mix and stir until dissolved.
